bon jour!

well not really- i have been trying to upload pictures from france but blooger is playing funny buggers so it'll have to wait.
typical that when i actually get around to doing something, technology stops me!
what have we been up to?
well, i had my trip to france- near lyon. it was great - lots of wine to be drunk, cheese and bagettes to be eaten and good company. the area of france i was in seemed really deserted though- i reckon i only saw a handful of people the whole time, but that was ok - it was very picturesque and it really felt like i was on a holiday even though it was just an hour away by plane and I was there for four days.
we stayed at my friends dads place. he is an sculptor and lives/works in a converted silk mill that he shares with other artists - it was a really facinating place to be.
i guess the big news from that trip is that when caroline picked me up from the train station she had a massive rock (well three massive rocks) on her finger. yes, shane finally decided to make an honest woman of caroline and proposed - in the swiss alps i believe - so

CONGRATULATIONS caz and shane.

also, pip and richard arrived in london a few weeks ago. It is really good to have them around to hang out with -although they are heading off to italy/croatia/turkey next week i think.

in other news, we have successfully cut up and put back together our sofa that was too big for our front door. rohan is (rightly) proud of himself - it seems very sturdy. unfortunately we still have the problem that the sofa seems to want to eat people alive
& we have a tv!
basically we are getting very domestic - it is kind of nice after travelling and not having a place to call our own for a while - it has also kind of been necessary cos i have used up all my money.
As soon as we get a surplus again though we'll start planning where to head next in europe/africa/etc

also, we are going to watch the AFL grand final at 5am on saturday!

no new news

ok, i know, i'm slack - but the thing is, nothing much is really happening now. i never really intended to keep this going as we settled into domestic bliss.
ha.
there hasnt been much bliss. as you may have heard, our car got crashed. and now we have bought a couch to big for our house! and i don't know why but cooking dinner every night didnt seem like such hard work in oz....ho hum.
but we have got a really cute apartment - and today we got bank accounts!! so i am feeling more like a proper person. and tonight we are going to a pub quiz! (can you tell life hasnt been all that exciting of late?) rohan has told them we are experts!
anyway, we will try and put up some pics of 'our town' and 'our home' asap.
also, i am going to france next week so i might have stories then...i am officially broke now though so i'm not sure how much debauchery i can really get up to.
