this could be heaven right here on earth

hello all,
it turns out that that paradise we were searching for turned out to be one minute (by ferry) south. doh!
the lonely planet described the town as magical and it got it right. The town (arraial dádjur) is perched on a cliff above the ocean. The bus dropped us off in the main square which was surrounded by small cottages painted in the vivid colours. the cobbled streets are lined with big shady trees and little shops. we went to the first place listed in the LP cos it sounded perfect and it was. little whitewashed cottages with dark wood beams and tiled roofs in a lush tropical garden (i found a ripe pawpaw). The pool was also amazing - overlooking the ocean. the price was right too at AU$25/night - so we went to the effort (which turned out to be hardly any at all) of changing our ticket to stay another day.at night time the place is lit up by fairy lights and candles everywhere. it is quite romantic really.

with our extra day we decided to head further south to another small town - which was equally as gorgeous, but after the bus ride there (and hour of v.bumpy roads) - i decided that i would rather walk the 13kms along the beach back. it was quite lovely - long deserted tropical beaches (= skinny dipping) broken up occasionally by beach bars and cafes and bronzed bodies (one was a club med - lots of gorgeous brown women and old fat men!). could have stayed at some of these places for a very long time. but we had a bus to catch.
and here we are in salvador.

there should be some photos soon (dad?)

on a blustery, wet Sydney day, it was lovely to read of such a romantic place. Great to know such hidden gems exist. With just 4 weeks to go, we are also looking forward to being footloose and free.. and to seeing you both in England.
Love, Mum and Dad
