a week in BA
here you go (mum!), more photos from the wanderings of ainslie and rohan around Buenos Aires.
we have been here for over a week now - staying at the umm...mostly comfortable lodgings of my dads apartment (it is semi-renovated).
I have been trying to get rohan to take some tango lessons (BA is the home of tango) but to no avail. however, just walking down the narrow streets here is a bit like a dance. trying to avoid the locals, cracks in the footpath, piles of dog poo, cars and the filthy buses that hurl themselves down the cobbled streets can be a bit tricky. but we are pretty good at it. in fact, i havent even stepped in poo yet (quite a feat). it is even harder walking at dads pace (like a bat out of hell).
basically we have just been walking around, seeing the sites and offering interior decorating advice to dad (although he seems to have done an ok job by himself). we have had a bit of difficulty getting our brasilian visa (been to the embassy four times now) and have been commiserating with a canadian girl who has also been having trouble. we only found out today that her friend had been killed by a bear while out running in the woods - which was why she was trying to change her visa details.
there are so many amazing buildings here. the waterboard building is especially ornate (yes, we went to look at it) they must have appreciated water at some time. we hung out for ages at the cemetary where eva peron is buried. it is full of mausoleums. i couldnt get rohan to stop taking photos which was a bit morbid. but it was kind of beautiful, i guess.
food is also alot better here. still alot of cheese.
heading to uruguay in the next couple of days. then onto brazil.
hasta luego
ains and roh

looks great
Just loved the sunset photo and the one in the coffee shot was so European - but Roh, have you taken up coffee drinking?
Must be a family inheritance to prefer cemeteries to tango!!Did you both know the story of Eva Peron apart from the musical and movie?
Keep well (and dry) - forecast for Montevideo often rainy..
Thanks for the postcard from Valparaiso - our first ever from South America!! Glad that you've struck a balance between not getting lost and not losing keys - what a great team!!
Love, Mum and Dad
Enjoy your travels, Ruth, we'll follow your progress with interest ( and awe!!)
